Stranded Deep 2 Roadmap and Dev Blogs
The public roadmap is still promised. Until it lands, this is the official paper trail.
Steam’s Early Access FAQ includes a sentence players should tattoo on a sticky note: “We’ll share a public roadmap soon so you can see what’s planned and follow our progress.” Soon is not a date. Until that board exists, the only honest roadmap is the blog archive plus the feature list already on the store.
This page is that archive in reading order, with a community recap of the 2025 Wrapped post in the middle so you can hear how the sandbox decision was explained before the desert was public.
2024–2025: studio, not setting
The Prague announcement in August 2024 is the start of the company-shaped roadmap. Edwards as creative director and CTO, Tomáš Pšenička as general manager, a larger team than the original two-person myth. Czech Mates (August 2025) is worth watching if you care that the sequel is being built in a real office with structure and raft prototypes, not in a rebranded Twitter account. Stranded in Style (August 2025) was art direction before the biome reveal. It still matters as proof they were choosing a visual identity on purpose.
December 2025 Wrapped is the design fork. Edwards wrote that they tested how much narrative to add and then chose sandbox. Stranded Deep, in their words, should be the most satisfying sandbox they can make. That decision is why the 2026 FAQ says there is no linear story. The embedded recap covers that post for people who do not want to read developer prose. Pair it with getting started if you were hoping for a campaign checklist.
2026: the desert becomes the plan
New Ground and the Steam reveal are the current north star. Everything mechanical on this wiki — river exploration, wildlife, floating homes, Cartographer 2.0, co-op — hangs off those documents. The living roadmap, when it appears, should be a schedule under that fantasy, not a new fantasy.
Steam already lists the Early Access growth columns: locations, biomes, wildlife, map-editor content, deeper crafting, progression, co-op. That is a roadmap without dates. It is also a warning. If a column is named, it is incomplete.
What a useful public roadmap would include
Players will look for: a month window tighter than “early 2027”; controller support; Steam Deck Verified; co-op player count; Cartographer sharing; first extra biome; first extra predator; mod tools. This wiki will transcribe those rows when official. It will not draw a fan Gantt chart in the meantime.
Follow the updates hub and official links. Discord is the studio’s primary room. Steam news is the archive that search engines can still find when Discord scrolls away. The reveal recap and Early Access pages stay stable; this roadmap page is the one that should grow the fastest after a blog drops.
If you are making purchase timing decisions, do not wait for a pretty roadmap graphic. Wait for a date or a feature you personally require. Hardware is already knowable on system requirements. The river fantasy is already knowable. The spreadsheet of seasons is not.
When “soon” becomes a URL, it will be the first link in this article. Until then, the roadmap is a trail of blogs, not a board of stickers.
